Mary Lou Hammack's Obituary
Mary Lou Hammack, age 96, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 3:08 a.m., in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
Mary Lou was born on March 1, 1927 in DuQuoin, IL, the daughter to Jesse and Margaret E. (Maxton) Bridenstine. On September 7, 1947, she married John William "Bill" Hammack in DuQuoin, IL and he preceded her in death after 69 years of marriage on June 25, 2017. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. Mary Lou enjoyed playing cards and volunteer work, especially for Meals on Wheels and at her church. She enjoyed being a member of the New Comers Club and loved square dancing. Mary Lou will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include two children, John Lee (Mary) Hammack of Pinckneyville, IL, and Chantelle (Joe) Luthy of Phoenix, AZ; one brother, Jess Bridenstine of Daytona Beach, FL; four grandchildren, Cortney (Jonas) Paretzkin of Geneva, IL, Jaime (Tyler) Muer of Stroudsburg, PA, Patrick Luthy of Phoenix, AZ, and Brandon (Rochelle) Luthy of Portland, OR; two great-grandchildren, Halle M. Paretzkin, and Mack J. Muer; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Hammack; and four sisters, Margaret Carter, Francis Girdner, Marceil Reminger, and Catherine Khory.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Don Meeks and Reverend Dave Trover officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Pinckneyville Community Hospital for the Acute Care Department.
