Mary Lou Elaine (Gaston) Deaton Mary Lou Elaine (Gaston) Deaton, age 66, of Glenallen, MO, formerly of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015 at 5:40 p.m. in her home. Mary Lou was born on March 24, 1949 in DuQuoin, IL, a daughter to Thomas H. and Bessie L. (Presswood) Gaston, Jr. On April 3, 1965, she married Thomas Hagene in Pinckneyville, IL. Later in life on September 1, 1990, she married James Deaton in Cross Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her in death on May 3, 2000. On February 14, 2008, she married Larry Chapman and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2011. She worked as a coal miner for Consolidated Coal and then Ziegler Coal Co. Spartan Mine. Mary Lou was a member of the U.M.W.A. and loved to go to the casino, travel and dance. Survivors include her son, Thomas (Susan) Hagene, Jr. of Pinckneyville, IL; a daughter, Julie Green of Sesser, IL; two brothers, Melvin Gaston of Glenallen, MO, Thomas "Jake" Gaston, III of Cutler, IL; a sister, Jo Deane (Roy D.) Miller of Cutler, IL; six grandchildren, Brandon Hagene, Anthony Hagene, Timothy Hagene, Trenton Hagene, Lindsey Hagene, and Jared Green; and six great-grandchildren, Ayla, Lexi, Allyssa, Edward, James and Hayley. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two brothers, Jackie Allen Gaston and Donald Gene Gaston. Graveside services will be held at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Friends and family are asked to gather at the cemetery. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
