Mary Frances Rushing's Obituary
Mary Frances Rushing, age 82, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 7:32 p.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, IL.
Mary Frances was born on March 10, 1937 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter of Melvin "Buzz" and Mabel (Bender) Thomas. She married Larry G. Rushing on May 10, 1957 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pinckneyville, IL and he survives. Mary Frances was a loving homemaker who had a strong faith in the Lord. She was devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. She demonstrated a life of service to them characterized by her joy for life, compassion for those less fortunate, and a spirit of self-sacrifice and giving for others. Mary Frances was a member of Roe's Dale Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. After learning to play the piano as a child, she served the Lord through music for the rest of her life by playing the piano and organ at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Winkle Baptist Church and Roe's Dale Baptist Church. She played for countless weddings, funerals and for other civic organizations, as well. Mary Frances was also very involved in other church work and activities, including teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and because of her heart for missions, served in the W.M.U.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Larry G. Rushing of Pinckneyville, IL; her daughter Lynne (Frank) Brazinski of Coulterville, IL; her two sons, Larry Mark (Gina) Rushing of Schertz, TX and Brian (Betsy) Rushing of Pinckneyville, IL; her sister, Patsy JoAnn Chism of Pinckneyville, IL; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Jay Lowder and Pastor Lee Valerius officiating. Burial will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorials may be made to Lottie Moon Missions in care of First Baptist Church.
