Mary Ellen Trail, age 92, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024 at 9:30 p.m., in Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pinckneyville, IL.
Mary Ellen was born on February 23, 1932 in Ava, IL, a daughter to Ray and Mary Alice (Nisbet) Speith. On August 1, 1952, she married Hallard Trail in Ava, IL and he preceded her in death on December 7, 1991 after 39 years of marriage. Now they are together for all eternity. Mary was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. Mary Ellen had worked at Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL for over 40 years. She enjoyed word search puzzles, playing cards, embroidery, camping, and fishing. The greatest joy of her life came from spending time with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her three sons, Larry "Hap" Trail of Pinckneyville, IL, Dean (Kathy) Trail of Pinckneyville, IL, and Mark (Lisa) Trail of Cutler, IL; one daughter, Mary Priebe of Percy, IL; one brother, Gerald (Retta) Speith of Ava, IL; eight grandchildren, Jared (Carrie) Trail of Pinckneyville, IL, Anthony (Jessica) Trail of Tamaroa, IL, Becky Chrum of Webster Grove, MO, Kacie (Mike) Davis of Pinckneyville, IL, Mike (Brandie) Trail of Tamaroa, IL, Allison Priebe of St. Louis, MO, Ethan (fiancé, Aireanna Drain) Trail of Pinckneyville, IL, and Erica Priebe of St. Louis, MO; nineteen great-grandchildren; niece and nephew, Zach (Amanda) Speith of Ava, IL, and Leah (Blake) Cook of Du Quoin, IL; and all of the employees at the Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pinckneyville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Edward Trail; one infant son, Abraham Trail; one daughter-in-law, Cindy Trail; one son-in-law, Terry Priebe; and one great-grandchild, Kalib Trail.
A funeral service will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
A visitation will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center's activities department or a hospice of your choosing.
