Mary Anne Harriss' Obituary
Mary Anne Harriss, age 79, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Fresenius Kidney Care DuQuoin, DuQuoin, IL.
Mary Anne was born on November 14, 1943, in Chicago, IL, a daughter to Loren W. and Ellen A. (Evans) Polley. On April 7, 1962, she married Raymond C. Harriss, Sr. in DuQuoin, IL and he survives. She worked 23 years as a tax preparer for H&R Block, Pinckneyville, IL, Assistant Tax Assessor at the Pinckneyville Court House, The Flower Patch, Pinckneyville, IL, and for Dr. Rodney Smalls Chiropractor's office, Pinckneyville, IL. Mary Anne was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the Chit Chat Club, Pinckneyville, IL. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and was a sports fanatic especially the St. Louis Cardinals or the Pinckneyville Panthers. Mary Anne loved the Caring & Sharing Thrift Shop, Pinckneyville, IL and reading romance novels that she would get from the thrift store. Her passion was her family and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Raymond C. Harriss, Sr. of Pinckneyville, IL; two sons, Raymond C. (Renee) Harriss, Jr. of Gastonia, NC and Danny (Tonia) Harriss of Pinckneyville, IL; three brothers, Loren (Lois) Polley of Grand Junction, CO, Daniel (Marsha) Polley of Vero Beach, FL, and Ricky (LuAnn) Polley of Christopher, IL; favorite granddaughter, Mallory (Matthew) Henk of Pinckneyville, IL; five grandchildren, Hayden Harriss, Miles Harriss, Reid Harriss, Mason Harriss, and Hannah McAferty; three great grandchildren, Collin Henk, Dylan Henk, and Jace McAferty; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Frances Welch and Sandra Coleman; and infant son, Michael Lee Harriss.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL, on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 7:00 p.m., with Brother Rob Mathis officiating.
Visitation will be at held at Pyatt funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL, on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
It was Mary Anne's wishes to be cremated after the services.
