Marvin Edward Talbert's Obituary
Marvin Edward Talbert, age 84, of Coulterville, IL, passed away Saturday morning, January 15, 2011 at Friendship Manor Nursing Home, Nashville, IL. Marvin was born February 6, 1926 in Belleville, IL, the son of Joshua and Catherina (Martin) Talbert. On May 26, 1945, he married Ruth Meyer in Belleville, IL, and she survives. Marvin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired after 42 years with Illinois Power as a tree trimmer foreman. Marvin was a member of the Coulterville V.F.W. Post 6865 and I.B.E.W. He loved hunting, fishing, watching the kids play sports and was a great storyteller. Marvin is survived by his wife Ruth of Coulterville, IL a son, Tom (LeeAnn) Talbert, of Coulterville, IL; a daughter, Betty (Carl) Smith of Coulterville, IL; one sister, Joan (Raymond) Spinnie of Coulterville, IL; six grandchildren, Cathy Smith, Vicki Little, Joe and Jim Talbert, Michael and Jason Presswood; four step-grandchildren, Shannon Inman, Shaun Smith, Maria and Matt Smith; six great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Marvin "Eddie" Talbert, Jr.; one sister, Shirley Petrick; two brothers, Norman and Harland Talbert; and one brother in infancy, Raymond Talbert. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Eunjoo Lee officiating. Graveside Military Rites will be performed by the Coulterville V.F.W. Post 6865. Interment will be in the Coulterville City Cemetery. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Coulterville Youth Association.
