Marty Silbe's Obituary
Marty Silbe, age 94, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 10:05 p.m. in Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation, Pinckneyville, IL.
Marty was born on March 2, 1926 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Martin and Gladys W. (McClurken) Silbe. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army Air Corps having served in World War II. On November 27, 1945, he married Wanda M. Hutchings in Kansas City, KS and she preceded him in death on March 21, 2019 after 73 years of marriage. Marty was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. He had worked in construction with the Laborers' Union 773, Marion, IL and as a coal miner at Consol #3. He was a member of the Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504, Pinckneyville, IL and the U.M.W.A. Marty enjoyed gardening, but his greatest joy was his grandchildren and watching them at their sporting events.
Survivors include his daughter, Marla Silbe of Pinckneyville, IL; his son, Terry (Geniese) Silbe of Pinckneyville, IL; a brother, Jim (Elaine) Silbe of Pinckneyville, IL; four grandchildren, Brooke Lueker of Tamaroa, IL, Paige Leonard of Pittsburg, IL, Jessica (Clint) Pyatt of Pinckneyville, IL and Dirk (Jenny) Silbe of Pinckneyville, IL; eleven great-grandchildren, Laine, Kassidy, Jase, Jett, Justice, Jesse, Jade, Shea, Miner, Zane and Jax; and one great-great-granddaughter, Alayna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a brother in infancy, Billy Silbe; and a sister, Dorothy Weatherford.
A private family service will be held. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
