Marjorie Lea Lipe's Obituary
Marjorie Lea (Griffin) Lipe, age 84, of Carbondale, IL, formerly of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away Monday, July 31, 2006 at Helia Healthcare, Carbondale, IL. Marjorie was born March 6, 1922 in Vergennes, IL the daughter of Glen and Mary (Moss) Griffin. She was united in marriage to Melvin O. Lipe November 27, 1940 in Perryville, MO and he preceded her in death December 26, 2000. Together they shared 60 years of marriage. She was of the Baptist faith and was a Sunday school teacher in earlier years as well as a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed raising flowers and quilting, and loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and enjoyed their visits. Marjorie is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Samuel and his wife Cheryl Lipe of Springfield, IL, David and his wife Peggy Lipe of Springfield, IL, James and his wife Nada Lipe of Richardson, TX, two daughters: Melva Williams and companion Sandra Duffield of Lawrenceville, GA, and Barbara Gantenbein and husband Bernie of Carbondale, IL, nine grandchildren: Mark and Johnny Waldrop, Jay Lipe, Greg Lipe and wife Mary, Nathan Lipe and wife Jacqueline, Lisa Kusch and husband Kelly, Heather and Jennifer Lipe, and Carolyn Skouby and husband Brian, nine great-grandchildren: Jordan Waldrop, Christy Waldrop, Natalie and Mathis Lipe, Madilynn and Mason Kusch, Joseph and Isaiah Booth and Deneah Day, a close family friend: Loretta Seibert, and two sisters-in-law: Geneva Griffin and Fern Griffin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers: Jess, Gene and Glenn Griffin. Funeral services will be at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday, August 3, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Brent Gordon officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, DuQuoin, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL, Wednesday evening, from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday morning from 8:00 a.m. till time of Services. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
