Marjorie P. Egbert's Obituary
Marjorie P. Egbert, age 75, of Ava, IL, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at 7:20 p.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Carbondale, IL. Marjorie was born on March 4, 1942 in Ava, IL, a daughter to James and Rita (Quillman) Walker. On March 28, 1961, she married Garreth N. "Gary" Egbert in Willisville, IL and he preceded her in death on March 19, 2016. She had retired as a postmaster at the United States Postal Service, Campbell Hill, IL after 35 years of service. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill, IL. Marjorie had been a cook at Elverado School and enjoyed cooking and sewing. Survivors include a son, Terry Egbert of Oraville, IL; a daughter, Sharon (Ted) Maxedon of Mt. Vernon, IL; three sisters, Janet (Jim) Egbert of Campbell Hill, IL, Wilma (Bill) Wilson of Murphysboro, IL and Doris Taylor of Murphysboro, IL; four grandchildren, Trey Maxedon, Brittney Lindsey, Blake Egbert and Cody (Bri) Fletcher; one great-granddaughter, Serenity Fletcher; special friends, Virginia and Mary; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary Egbert; four sisters; and six brothers. Graveside services will be held at Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Lay Minister Debra Rathert officiating. Friends and family are asked to gather at the cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of arrangements.
