Marilyn Millikin's Obituary
Marilyn Sue Millikin, age 71, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 9:17 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL. Marilyn was born on February 16, 1945 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Robert C. "Whitey" and Mildred "Mae" (Dempsey) Millikin. She was a graduate of Pinckneyville Community High School class of 1963. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the District 50 school board for the past twenty years where she served as president for the last fourteen years. Marilyn had worked at the Army Reserve Recruiting Command retiring in 1996 after 30 years and once won the civilian employee of the year award. She later worked for Larry Pfau in his State Farm office in Pinckneyville, IL from 2000-2012. Marilyn loved spending time with family and friends, reading, watching movies, listening to music and making arts and crafts. Survivors include her sister, Carol Jean (Bill) Sanders of Pinckneyville, IL; a sister in law, Sue Milliken of Greensboro, NC; brother in law, Bill Stewart of Pinckneyville, IL; eight nieces, Kathy Dinkela of St. Louis, MO, Beth Dinkela of Madison, WI, Susie (Don) Lyons of Fallbrook, CA, Terri Millikin of Granite City, IL, Patty Furkin of Columbia, MO, Tammy Rowe of Eldon, MO, Jeanne (Ken) Smith of Belleville, IL, and Kristin Kopshever (Tim Sheehan) of Bethesda, MD; five nephews, David (Annette) Dinkela of Troy, MO, Ric Milliken of Greensboro, NC, Tim Stewart of Columbia, IL, Chris Stewart of Pinckneyville, IL, and Patrick (Carrie) Stewart of Waterloo, IL; ten great- nieces; six great-nephews; five great-great-nieces and fourteen great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Roberta M. Dinkela, Shirley A. Millikin, and Mary R. Stewart; two brothers, Kenneth J. Millikin and Paul R. Milliken; two nephews, Kenneth C. Millikin and Steven R. Dinkela; and a great- niece, Dawn Michelle Furkin. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. Jay Lowder officiating. Interment will be at Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
