Margaret E. Reith's Obituary
Margaret E. Reith, age 102, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. in Benton Rehab and Health Care Center, Benton, IL. Margaret was born on August 22, 1910 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Alford H. and Clara M. (Gieser) Zahn. On November 1, 1931, she married John Francis Reith in St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her in death on March 3, 1988. Mr. Reith was the former Pinckneyville Fire Chief for many years. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL and was confirmed in 1923. Mrs. Reith was a faithful and loyal member of her church. She was a member of the church choir for many years and past president of the Womens Guild. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, receiving her pin in 1978. Mrs. Reith was also a member of White Shrine and Royal Neighbors. She was very active in the Pinckneyville Fire Department in her younger years and was a very loving wonderful mother. Survivors include one son, Charles E. (Juliette) Reith of Panama City, FL; one daughter, Karen (John) Golliher of Benton, IL; a very dear nephew, Randy (Carol) Zahn of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren, John Patrick (Connie) Golliher, David Shannon (Vickie) Golliher, Stephen Francis (Gail) Reith and Colette Elaine Reith; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and one brother, Charles H. Zahn. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Cindy Bean officiating. Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ or Wounded Warriors. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
