Margaret R. "Becky" Parkinson's Obituary
Margaret R. "Becky" Parkinson, age 80, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 4:09 p.m. in Coulterville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Coulterville, IL.
Margaret was born on June 27, 1940 in Coulterville, IL, a daughter to Van W. and Hazel R. (Wilson) Isom. On February 6, 1959, she married Dale Thomas Parkinson at the Coulterville Methodist Church. They shared 62 years of marriage. Margaret was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the Eastern Star and of the V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary in Coulterville, IL. For several years she worked at Spartan Aluminum, Sparta, IL. From 1970 until 1985 she owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Coulterville, IL. After retiring she enjoyed spending time with her family especially her children and grandchildren. Margaret enjoyed golf, music, dancing, and traveling. She would spend winters in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas and the summers camping at Marissa Rec. in Marissa, IL. Margaret was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and a Duke College basketball fan.
Survivors include her husband, Dale Parkinson of Coulterville, IL; one son, Michael (Kelly) Parkinson of Coulterville, IL; two daughters, Lisa Heuer of Sparta, IL, and Rochelle (John) LePere of O'Fallon, IL; ten grandchildren, Sarah (Nick) Beck, David Parkinson, Nathan Parkinson, Zachary LePere, Emily LePere, Olivia LePere, Amanda Burton, Niki Burton, Stephanie Heuer, and Morgan Heuer; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Steven Lee Parkinson; brother, Van William "Bill' Isom; and sister, Janice Frederking.
Graveside services will be held at Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Ron Mazander officiating. Interment will be at Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL.
A private family visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL.
Due to the Covid-19 virus, social distancing will be enforced and all attendees are asked to wear a mask.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital or to the Coulterville United Methodist Church.
