Margaret "Marge" Mary Epplin's Obituary
Margaret "Marge" Mary Epplin, age 93, of Pinckneyville, IL, went to be with her heavenly Father on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 3:25 p.m., in Coulterville Rehabilitation & Care Center, Coulterville, IL.
Marge was born on August 1, 1928 at her parent's home in DuBois, IL, a daughter to John Joseph and Cecelia (Skorczewski) Krzebietke. On November 26, 1947, she married the love of her life, Edward Epplin at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Sparta, IL. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1987 after almost 40 years of marriage. She had been a widow for 34 years.
After graduating from Sparta High School, Sparta, IL, she had worked at a garment factory in Sparta. Marge had been a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, DuQuoin, IL for many years until she moved to Pinckneyville. She then became a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church and was a lifelong member of the Catholic Daughters of America. After she married Edward, Marge worked as a homemaker and farmer's wife and later in life cared for the elderly. She loved to dance and was a member of the Riverside Swingers Square Dance Club. Marge was very social and loved family dinners. She was a fabulous cook and was especially known for the best apple pie, fried chicken, Pozze Broda soup, and, of course, mashed potatoes with every meal and a bowl of ice cream every night. Marge was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan and a breast cancer survivor.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (John) Hughes of Greenwood Village, CO; one son-in-law, Mark Mohr of Pinckneyville, IL; one brother, J. Maurice (Marcia) Krisby of Sparta, IL; five grandchildren, Brian Hughes (Hope Saska), Michael Brandon Hughes, Lauren Hughes (Raul Correa), all of Colorado, and Pamela Mohr and Matthew Mohr, both of Pinckneyville, IL; ten great-grandchildren, Brooke (Marshall) Bell, Autumn Mohr, Brenden Ritter, Justin Ritter, Titus John Hughes, Marshawn Fisher, Faith Fisher, Madelyn Mohr, Alaina Mohr, and Alijah Mohr; and three great-great-grandchildren, Henry Bell, Lilly Bell, and Rose Bell. Many treasured nieces and nephews also survive, including Janet Epplin, who lovingly cared for Marge in her declining years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Epplin; one daughter, Victoria "Vicki" Mohr; one sister, Marie Langa; and one brother, Max Krisby.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Augustine Ibezimako officiating. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, DuQuoin, IL.
Visitation will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. and again 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. by her niece, Janet Epplin.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Bruno Catholic Church or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Due to the Covid-19 virus, all mandates and regulations will be enforced.
