Margaret Ilene Jackson's Obituary
Margaret Ilene Jackson, age 77, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022 ay 8:30 p.m. in Fairview Rehabilitation and Health Care, DuQuoin, IL.
Margaret was born on February 26, 1945 in DuQuoin, IL, a daughter to George and Margaret (Keigley) Stanley. She married James Lee Jackson in 1978 and he preceded her in death on March 16, 1982. Margaret had worked as a coal miner for Zeigler Coal Co and was one of the first women coal miners in the State of Illinois. She was a member of Gospel Assembly Church, DuQuoin, IL. Margaret wanted to remember as "a good old gal with a quick wit."
Survivors include four children, April Dawn Tedrow of Benton, IL, Tracy (Bob) Trober of DuQuoin, IL, Robert (Stacey) Robinson of McKenzie, TN, and Suzanne (David) Gates of DuQuoin, IL; fourteen grandchildren, Jami (Maggie), Jason (Talia), Jennifer, Jessica (Eric), Justin (Sarah), Craig (Jennifer), Steffanie, Andrew, Morgan, Brittany, Braden, Jacob, Rebecca, and Elizabeth (Issaic); thirty-four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Lee Jackson; one daughter, Michele Robinson; one grandson, Jeremy Emery; two sisters, Shirley King, and Margaret's twin sister, April Stanley; three brothers, George Stanley, Truman Stanley, and Phillip Stanley; one son-in-law, David Tedrow; one brother-in-law, Wayne King; and one sister-in-law, Melba.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Greg Shelton officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin, IL.
Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
