Marcella "Sally" Bruns, age 76, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at 8:21 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
Sally was born on May 10, 1943 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Louis J. and Bernice R. (Kellerman) Hagene. On May 30, 1963, she married Bernard William "Bill" Bruns at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL. He preceded her in death on June 16, 2009 after 46 years of marriage. She was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL. Sally had worked at Decca Records, Pinckneyville, IL for 35 years. She retired after 20 years of service at Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL as a housekeeper. She was always a hard worker and enjoyed being outside and taking care of her flowers, yard and cats.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy (Dr. John) Melvin of DuQuoin, IL; her son, Dennis (Diane) Bruns of Pinckneyville, IL; five brothers, Louis (Veronica) Hagene of Cuba, MO, Tom (Edie) Hagene of Pinckneyville, IL, Maurice (Glenda) Hagene of Pinckneyville, IL, Tony Hagene of Pinckneyville, IL and Vincent (Lynette) Hagene of Pinckneyville, IL; nine sisters, Marie McDonald of Waterloo, IL, Cecilia Day (Robert Baker) of Willisville, IL, Diane (Doug) Yocum of House Springs, MO, Rita (Michael) Harriss of DuQuoin, IL, Elaine (Terry) Heern of Carbondale, IL, Annette (Don) Hart of Dahlgren, IL, Nora (Douglas) Neal of Pinckneyville, IL, Denise (Ray Allen) Bathon of DuQuoin, IL and Laura (Ron) Porter of DuQuoin, IL; two sisters-in-law, Marcia Hagene of Pinckneyville, IL and Shirley Hagene of Oakdale, IL; four grandchildren, Mallory (Matthew) Henk of DuQuoin, IL, Danielle (Brandon) Rickenberg of Steeleville, IL, Denise (Aaron) Smithey of Pinckneyville, IL and Brenden Blades of DuQuoin, IL; and two great-grandchildren, Collin and Dylan Henk.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard William "Bill" Bruns; three brothers, Richard Hagene, Larry Hagene and Carl Hagene; and a sister, Glenda Hagene.
Funeral services will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Augustine Ibezimako officiating. Interment will be in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday morning at the church from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. followed by the reciting of the rosary.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Bruno Catholic School.
