Lynne Marie Murphy's Obituary
Lynne M. Murphy, age 75, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 11:45 a.m., in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
Lynne was born on November 16, 1948 in Litchfield, IL, a daughter to Beaman Louis and Wilma Marie (Whalen) Elvers. On August 3, 1970, she married John William Murphy in Jerseyville, IL. Lynne had worked for Pinckneyville Community Hospital on skilled care as a physical therapist for 35 years. She was of the Methodist faith who loved taking care of her family. Lynne was an avid donor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and loved spending time with animals and family. She enjoyed plants and watching hummingbirds. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, John William Murphy of Pinckneyville, IL; one son, John William (Gina) Murphy, II of Pinckneyville, IL; one brother John "Huck" Elvers of Gillespie, IL; four sisters, Dixie (Jerry) Cross of Gillespie, IL, Tracy (David) Smith of Gillespie, IL, Jill (David) Sharp of Nokomis, IL, and Mardi (Russ) Wisely of Campbell Hill, IL; one sister-in-law, Sondra (David) Guill; four grandchildren, Grant Murphy of Pinckneyville, IL, Christina (Garon) Osborn of Saint Libory, IL, Chandra Carroll of West Frankfort, IL, Brianna (Gaston) Sailliez of West Frankfort, IL; eight great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Julie Murphy-Wiggers; and sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and James Leposky.
It was Lynne's wishes to be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
