Loren "Rig" Rigdon's Obituary
Loren "Rig" Rigdon, age 89, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 9:45 a.m. in DuQuoin Nursing and Rehab, DuQuoin, IL.
Rig was born on September 7, 1929 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Clarence R. and Mabel (Miller) Rigdon. He was a proud veteran of United States Army having served in the Korean War and obtaining the rank of Corporal. On September 22, 1951, he married Ann Rohlfing in Piggott, AR and she survives. Rig had worked as a barber for 49 years before retiring. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL, enjoyed fishing, boating and camping and could throw a great knuckle ball.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Ann Rigdon of Pinckneyville, IL; a son, Chris Rigdon of Herrin, IL; a daughter, Sherie (Jeff) Provart of DuQuoin, IL; a brother, Eugene (Nancy) Rigdon of Pekin, IL; seven grandchildren, Rachel Provart, Martha (Paul) Numi, Mary (Jeremy) Jackson, Jon Provart, Joey (Megan) Provart, Christian Rigdon and Michael Rigdon; twelve great-grandchildren, Kiley Rigdon, Jakeb, Lauren and Katie Jackson, Jaiden and Jonah Provart, Olivia and Joseph Provart, and Grace, Cara, Maggie and Claire Numi; and one great-great-grandson, Atlas Vinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruby Schwarz.
Funeral services will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be in Nashville Masonic Cemetery, Nashville, IL with graveside military rites by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church or the Carmi Baptist Children's Home, Carmi, IL.
