Loren "Gene" Reidelberger's Obituary
Loren "Gene" Reidelberger, age 85, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Saturday morning, December 27, 2008 at Fair Acres Nursing Home, DuQuoin, IL. Gene was born August 31, 1923 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Franklin P. and Carrie (Logan) Reidelberger. On November 11, 1946, he married Josephine Kellerman at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Todds Mill, IL and she survives. Gene served in the United States Army in Europe during World War II, attaining the rank of corporal. He worked at Lueker's Implement in Pinckneyville, IL and then worked for many years at Taylor Brothers in Tamaroa, IL as a machinist where he retired. Gene was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Tamaroa, IL and was a member of the American Threshermans Association when it started in Pinckneyville. He loved restoring old tractors, repairing lawnmowers and most of all was a great dad. Gene is survived by his wife: Josephine Reidelberger of Pinckneyville, IL, one son: Loren (Vicky) Reidelberger of DuQuoin, IL, two daughters: Brenda (Rich) Gilliam of DuQuoin, IL, Deborah Magerkurth of Cutler, IL, son-in-law: Jerry Kelly of Swanwick, IL, sister: Edith Feltmeyer, of Granite City, IL, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Cheryl Kelly, four sisters: Lola Simon, Ora Englehardt, Ruth Keene and Florence Hester and four brothers: Warren, Wilford, Lester and Renzo Reidelberger, and an infant sibling. Funeral services will be held in St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Todds Mill, IL, on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Bernard Goedde officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Cemetery, Todds Mill, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, December 29, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and then on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church or American Heart Association.
