Lola Holyfield's Obituary
Lola Holyfield, age 80, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 7:49 a.m. in Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, IL. Lola was born on November 6, 1936 in Corning, AR, a daughter to Johnnie and Hettie (Brashears) Brewer. On May 12, 1956, she married O.V. Holyfield in Sikeston, MO and he preceded her death on May 26, 2014 after 58 years of marriage. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church, Rice, IL. She did zipper sewing at the garment factory in DuQuoin, IL for 34 years. She enjoyed bluegrass singing, camping, visiting friends, and loved her Church. Survivors include her children; Lora (David) Kellerman, Ron (Sharon) Holyfield, and Daren Holyfield, all of Pinckneyville, IL; two brothers, John Brewer and Jackie Brewer; four sisters, Eula Higgins, Betty (Perry) Stevens, Gwen (E.J.) Brooks, and Barbara (Tom) Rush; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Bonnie Sue Hawkins and Rebecca Brewer; daughter-in-law Beth Holyfield; brother-in-law Louie Higgins. Funeral services will be held at Concord Baptist Church, Rice, IL on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Fred Pringle officiating. Interment will be in Concord Cemetery, Rice, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL, on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Concord Cemetery.
