Lloyd Roger Burnett's Obituary
Lloyd Roger Burnett, age 82, of Readyville, TN, has gone to be with the Lord. He passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021, at West Meade Place, Nashville, TN.
Roger was born on June 4, 1939 in Oakdale, IL, a son to Herbert Lloyd "Monk" and Elizabeth Ann (Hill) Burnett. On December 29, 1964, he married Beverly Jean Stegens in Chester, IL and she preceded him in death on September 13, 2017. Roger had retired after working thirty years in the foundry at Caterpillar Inc.
Roger was a member of Bayview Baptist Church in Washington, IL. He served the Lord by driving a church bus for many years, bringing adults and children to come and worship the Lord.
Roger enjoyed reading the Bible and cowboy westerns. He enjoyed watching his favorite television shows, fishing, traveling and spending time with family and friends, especially his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a fan of many country singers, such as Johnny Cash, Randy Travis and Barbara Mandrell.
Survivors include his four children, Lisa (James) Dessi of FL; Bryan Burnett of IL; Sheila (Robert) Johnson of TN, and Theresa (Michael) Rennie of IL; ten grandchildren, Brian (Ashleigh) Dessi of FL, Eric (Anastasia) Dessi of VA, Bobbi Jo Burnett of IL, Elisha (Kimberly) Johnson of IN, Tara Johnson of TN, Alexa (Matthew) Thornton of IL, Michael, JR., Tanner, Victoria, and Reese Reenie; five great-grandchildren, Sean, Grayson, Haven, Adeline, and Cole; three brothers, Robert J. Burnett of IL, Edward R. Burnett of IL, and H. Leroy (Irma) Burnett of IL; one sister, Alberta M. Woodside of IL; one sister-in-law, Susan Burnett of IL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved and adored.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly J. Burnett; one grandson, Mitchell Johnson; two brothers, David Eugene Burnett and H. Roy "Silent" Burnett; and one sister, Arlene Hackworth; two nieces, Dawn Rieger, and Deanna Burnett; brother in law, Dale Woodside; and sister in law, Sharon Burnett.
Funeral services will be held at Calvary Church, Sparta, IL on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Brother Tim McIntyre officiating. Interment will be at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be held at Calvary Church, Sparta, IL on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made out to the family.
