Lester Eugene Van Zandt's Obituary
Lester Van Zandt, age 57, of Elkville, IL passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 10:47 p.m. in St. Francis Medical Center, Cape Girardeau, MO. Lester was born in DuQuoin, IL on August 11, 1949, a son of Raymond Lester and Judy (Moore) Van Zandt. During his lifetime, he was employed by the City of Elkville, Freeman Mine #3, Jackson County E. M. T. 's, Dumaroc's Club, DeSoto, IL, Jackson County Sheriff's Department, was a business owner & operator, Elkville Fire Chief for many years, and loved spending time with his Alaskan Malamute dogs. Survivors include his wife: Cathy J. Spiller of Elkville, his mother: Judy Van Zandt of Elkville, a son: Daren Van Zandt and his wife Chrissy, of DeSoto, two daughters: Andrea and Danielle of Elkville, a step-daughter: Jill Zimmerman, and her husband, D. J., of South Carolina, three brothers: Frank Eaton, and his wife, Kay, of DuQuoin, Van Ray Van Zandt, and his wife, Angi, and Dudley Van Zandt, and his wife, Lisa, all of Dowell, and two grandchildren: Miranda and Makenzi Van Zandt of DeSoto. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 25, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, DuQuoin, with Reverend Chris Hottensen officiating. Interment will be in the Elkville Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, DuQuoin, on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 12:00 noon till 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
