Lester Ray Glenn's Obituary
Lester Ray Glenn, age 85, of Benton, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 9:55 a.m. in Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pinckneyville, IL.
Lester was born on December 31, 1937 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Richard and Evelyn (Ruffino) Glenn. On January 2, 1956, he married Ethel Jean in Corinth, MS and she survives. Lester was an electrician at Consol Burning Star #2 coal mine for over 20 years. After retiring from Consol, he worked at K&M Liquors for 10 years. Lester was also a self-employed farmer for most of his life. He was of the Baptist faith and belonged to the U.M.W.A. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, building houses and vacationing out West, especially Phoenix, AZ and Las Vegas, NV. Lester loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel of 67 years; one daughter, Krista Szczeblewski of Benton, IL; a granddaughter, Ashleigh (Tim) Reiman of Benton, IL; and one great-grandson, Ryne Reiman; one sister, Sharon (Roger) Lee of Tamaroa, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Delores Cole; and one son-in-law, Mike Szczeblewski.
Graveside services will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Benton, IL on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Benton, IL.
