Lawrence E. Rainey, Jr.'s Obituary
Lawrence E. Rainey, Jr., age 63, of Coulterville, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at 8:31 a.m. in Sparta Community Hospital Emergency Room. Lawrence was born on May 15, 1943 in Coulterville, a son to Lawrence E., Sr. and Blanche Mae (Folden) Rainey. On February 26, 1965, he married Connie Pickett in Coulterville and she survives. He worked as a coal miner at the Green Diamond Mine in Marissa, Old Ben Coal Company in Benton, Peabody Coal Company in Freeburg, and Zeigler Coal Company Spartan Mine, and later in life as a barber. He was a member of the Coulterville V.F.W. Post 6865 Drill Team, Lion's Club of Coulterville, and enjoyed camping and fishing. Survivors include his wife: Connie of Coulterville, one son: Specialist Dak E. Rainey and wife Allison of Fort Bragg, NC, one daughter: Stephanie Reid and husband Richard, Jr. of Sparta, two brothers: John L. Rainey and wife Donna of Coulterville, and William E. Rainey and wife Judy of Coulterville, and three grandchildren: Mindy, Randy, and Kevin Reid. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother: Delmond H. Rainey. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Coulterville on Monday, March 26, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Reid, Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick. Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Coulterville on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and again on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
