Lawrence L. Patton's Obituary
Lawrence L. "Pat" Patton, age 88, of Pinckneyville, formerly of Coulterville, IL passed away on Monday, June 12, 2006 at 9:40 p.m. in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, IL. Pat was born on June 7, 1918 in Oakdale, IL, a son to David Samuel and Jennie Frances (Boyd) Patton. He served as a 1st Sergeant in the United States Army 17th Infantry, 7th Division in World War II. He married Billie L. Smith on May 23, 1942 and she preceded him in death on September 24, 2003. In his lifetime, he worked as a teamster and with the postal service, at Beckley Truck Service, and Patton Hardware and Farm Supply in Coulterville. He was a member of the Coulterville United Methodist Church, the Coulterville V.F.W., the Pinckneyville American Legion, and the Sparta Masonic Lodge. Survivors include three sons: Michael Lawrence Patton of San Antonio, TX, Martin and Theresa Patton of Sparta, and David Patton of Fruitland Park, FL, one daughter: Toni and Mike Eagle of Georgia, one brother: Lloyd and Margaret Patton of Nashville, IL, one sister:Hazel Palek of Plum Hill, IL, 3 grandchildren: Elizabeth Beckley, Veronica Nagel, and Rusti Davis, and four great-grandchildren: Jordan and Trey Beckley, Chelsea Nagel and Wade Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister: Thalia May, and one brother in infancy. Funeral Services will be held at Coulterville United Methodist Church on Thursday, June 15, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery. Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Coulterville on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m., then on Thursday at Coulterville United Methodist Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial donations may be made to the Coulterville V.F.W. or the Pinckneyville American Legion.
