Lavon M. Owen's Obituary
Lavon Mae Owen, age 72, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014 in Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Lavon was born on August 6, 1941 in Denmark, IL, a daughter to Arnold and Minnie (Williams) Moore. On May 22, 1960, she married Ernel Owen in Demark, IL and he preceded her in death on June 17, 1989. Lavon was a member of Denmark Baptist Church, Denmark, IL and throughout her life worked as a housekeeper and a caregiver. She was a proud supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospitals and dearly loved caring for and spending time with her family. Survivors include three daughters, Cindy Kuhnert , Crystal (Robert) Bardle and Patricia (David) Williams, all of Pinckneyville, IL; a brother, Leon (Donna) Moore of Pinckneyville, IL; three sisters, Bernice (Max) Mathis of Pinckneyville, IL, Brenda Cox of Rockford, IL and Nancy Tipper of Mt. Vernon, IL; eleven grandchildren, Elisha (Jeremy) Prien, Jennifer Carns, Chandler Reid, Todd Mickeal Carns, David Wayne Williams III, Shelby Williams, Lexie Williams, Denise (Josh) Smith, Ciara Owen, Alana Kuhnert and Lindsay Carns; five great grandchildren, Lathon Wright, Daniel Kuhnert, Elizabeth Simpson, Braxton Smith and Jacob Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Mickeal Owen; a grandson, Benjamin Wright; and a brother, Homer Moore. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Kenneth Owen officiating. Interment will be in Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospitals.
