Larry N. "Bull" Mathis' Obituary
Larry N. "Bull" Mathis, age 75, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:18 a.m. in St. Francis Medical Center, Cape Girardeau, MO. Larry was born on July 29, 1939 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Paul N. and Dorothy (Kelly) Mathis. Larry worked as a coal miner, retiring from Peabody Coal Company. He was a member of Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL, U.M.W.A. and was a Mason. Larry was an avid Pinckneyville Panther fan, loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Cubs, hunting and fishing and loved watching his grandchildren play sports. Survivors include two sons, Randy (Carla) Mathis of Vergennes, IL and Robert Mathis (fiancée, Dianna Casey) of Waltonville, IL; three grandchildren, Brittany Mathis, Bryce Mathis and Rachel Mathis; two brothers, Max (Bernice) Mathis and Doug (Christi) Mathis all of Pinckneyville, IL; one sister, Jo Dene (Bill) Valentine of Richmond Hills, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Darlene Tanner. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Mark Lee officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Beaucoup Baptist Church or American Heart Association.
