Lance William Feik's Obituary
Lance William Feik, age 74, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 11:50 a.m. in his home.
Lance was born on October 19, 1945 in DuQuoin, IL, a son to William F. and Martha "Marie" (Davis) Feik. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force who honorably served his country overseas in England during the Vietnam War. Lance graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Masters of Arts degree in History. Lance dedicated his life to the Perry County Historical Society. He loved the Southern Illinois University Historical Social Society of the States, where he served as the vice president for several years. He collected old recipes, and wrote the cookbook, "Old Time Recipes". He also cowrote the book, "One Room School Houses" with his friend, Flossine Schrader. Lance was an avid war history buff.
Survivors include his several nieces, nephews; three cousins, Donald Gass of Pinckneyville, Wanda Rennison of Pinckneyville, and Mary Neal of DuQuoin, IL; four second cousins, Debby Burns of Pinckneyville, IL, Beverly Davis of DuQuoin, IL, Rodney Gass of Mt. Vernon, IL, and Cody Gass of Pinckneyville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three aunts, Ruth Thomas, Betsy Smith, and Caroline Feik Gass.
A public graveside service will be held in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, August 31, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Rodney L. Gass officiating.
Public visitation will be at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, August 31, 2020 from 9:00 a.m until the time of the service.
Due to health concerns related to the Covid-19 virus and by the executive order signed by Governor J.B. Pritzker, phase four attendance will be limited to 50 people and social distancing will be enforced.
Memorial donations may be made to the DuQuoin Humane Society.
