L. Dean Knope's Obituary
L. Dean Knope, age 86, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in Friendship Manor, Nashville, IL. Dean was born on April 16, 1926 in Coulterville, IL, a son to Louis and Mayme (Schaeffer) Knope. On November 5, 1949, he married Dolores J. "Sis" Huff in Pinckneyville, IL and she preceded him in death on July 24, 2001. He then married Loyce Edwards on August 25, 2005 in Coulterville, IL and she preceded him in death on December 22, 2011. Dean was a veteran of the United States Army serving during WW II. During his time in the Army he attained the rank of sergeant and served time in Korea. He was a farmer and a coal miner for Zeigler Coal for 35 years. Dean was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Coulterville, IL, V.F.W. Post 6865, Coulterville, IL and the U.M.W.A. Dean enjoyed horses, building covered wagons and visiting with people. Dean is survived by a son, Donnie (Carol) Knope of DuQuoin, IL; daughter Kay (Rod) Davis of Coulterville, IL; five grandchildren, Wesley (Jana) Klamm; Robert (Julie) Klamm; Andrea (Donnie) Fosnock; Amy (David) Sullivan; and Rusty (Rachel)Davis; nineteen great-grandchildren,; and many dear nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; four brothers, Merle Knope, Donald Knope, Emmett Knope and Kenneth Knope; and two sisters, Ruby Knope and Elsie Hirte. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Tim McIntyre officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL. Graveside military rites will be provided by V.F.W. Post 6865, Coulterville, IL Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Tuesday, 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Wing at Friendship Manor, Nashville, IL.
