Kowana Roe Louis' Obituary
Kowana Roe Louis, age 95, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Kowana was born on October 8, 1929 in Benton, IL, a daughter to Harry and Irene (Feltmeyer) Kuhnert. On April 5, 1947, she married Elmer M. Louis at Beaucoup Baptist Parsonage, Pinckneyville, IL and after 69 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on January 3, 2017. Kowana began working as a seamstress at Pinckneyville Garment Factory until 1974, from 1979 until 1987 she worked as a clerk for Wagner Tru Value, and in 1996 she retired from Stotlar Drug Pharmacy, Pinckneyville, IL as a sales clerk. Kowana was a member of Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and loved going to church, especially Sunday school class. She enjoyed plants, flowers, gardening, crocheting, reading especially newspapers and magazines. Kowana truly enjoyed being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren watching them grow. She found solace in watching hummingbirds. She truly loved spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her two sons, Nicky (Patty) Louis of Pinckneyville, IL and Larry (Staci) Louis of Pinckneyville, IL; one daughter, Nancy Poston of Tyler, TX; two brothers, Ronald (Jean) Kuhnert of Pinckneyville, IL and Marvin (Mary Catherine) Kuhnert; five grandchildren, Joel Louis, Jason (significant other Amanda) Louis, Shaneille (Opie) Piper, Kaylee (Bobby) Higgins, Brady Louis; two step-grandsons, Eric Poston and Benjamin Folden; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jayla, Parley Belle, Kallahan, Nela May, and Winnie Lou; three step-great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Garrett, and McKenzie; and two step-great-great-grandchildren, Kai and Laekyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer M. Louis; son-in-law, George Poston; daughter-in-law, Billie Louis; and infant granddaughter, Courtney Danielle Louis.
Funeral services will be held at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., with Brother Mark Lee officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Beaucoup Baptist Church Building Fund or the National Kidney Foundation.
