Kenny L. Giacomo's Obituary
Kenny L. Giacomo, age 52, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 7:13 p.m. in Sparta Community Hospital Emergency Room, Sparta, IL. Kenny was born on October 30, 1963 in Vandalia, IL, a son to Carl and Mary (Martin) Giacomo. On December 7, 2002, he married Lisa Brand in Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands and she survives. Kenny was of the Catholic faith, worked as an underground coal miner at Knight Hawk Coal Company, Percy, IL and had previously worked as a diesel mechanic at Snead's Repair Shop, Nashville, IL. He was a member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Pinckneyville, IL and the Perry County Sportsman Club. Kenny was a bigger than life character who was well known for his personalized phrases like "What are the poor people eating" and had an infectious laugh that will be remembered for many years to come. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He loved spending time with his grandkids, aggravating Lisa, watching NASCAR, playing cards and was a huge Chicago Cubs fan. Survivors include his wife, Lisa Giacomo of Pinckneyville, IL; his father and step-mother, Carl (Barb) Giacomo of Pinckneyville, IL; his mother, Mary Faulkner of Pinckneyville, IL; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Barbara Brand of Pinckneyville, IL; three step-sons, Nathan Luke (Amy) of Pinckneyville, IL, Ryan (Zoe) Luke of St. Louis, MO and Neil Luke (Ali) of St. Louis, MO; four grandchildren, Baylee, Abbi, Mason and Otis; two brothers, Denny (Diane) Giacomo of Pinckneyville, IL and Bill (Tammy) Giacomo of Pinckneyville, IL; a sister, Pam Jones of Pinckneyville, IL; many dear step-brothers, step-sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, and friends; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Katy and Kassie. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Bernard Goedde officiating. Interment will be in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Monday at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
