Kenneth Palmer's Obituary
Kenneth Palmer, age 84, of Godfrey, IL and formerly of Coulterville, IL passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 7:14 p.m., in Alton Memorial Hospital, IL.
Kenneth was born on June 3, 1938 in Sikeston, MO, a son to John and Mildred (Council) Palmer. He married Dixie Palmer on June 20, 1958 in Carbondale, IL.
Kenneth honorably served his country in the United States Air Force beginning in 1957. He was then employed by the Philco Corporation at Great Lakes Naval Station where he conducted radar systems training. He began working at McDonnell Douglas in the early 1960s where he held many positions to include fighter jet production line support/troubleshooting, radar systems training, and many managerial positions. While working at McDonnell Douglas, Kenneth earned his M.B.A. After retiring from McDonnell Douglas, he began working at Jefferson Smurfitt where he managed accounting systems. Kenneth was of the United Presbyterian faith. Kenneth loved computers, old tractors, traveling, Hydroponic-gardening (tomatoes). He especially loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Dixie Palmer of Godfrey, IL; son, Robert Palmer of Godfrey, IL; daughter, Dawn (Scott) Happel of Tampa, FL; son-in-law, Doug Andrews of Chesterfield, MO; grandchildren, Chelsea (Ryan) Wojtowicz of Wildwood, MO, and Nathan Andrews of Scottsdale, AZ; great grandchildren, Cole and Noah Wojtowicz both of Wildwood, MO; sister, Judy Eubank of DeSoto, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and countless other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kimberly Andrews; infant son, Ricky Palmer; brother, Jerald Palmer; sisters, Arlene Chastant and JoAnn Schoolcraft; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Jim Stark officiating. Interment will be at Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta, IL.
A visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Monday, from 10:00 a.m., until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to The ALS Foundation or to the American Cancer Society.
