Kenneth M. "Butch" Terry, Jr., age 65, of Mt. Vernon, IL, formerly of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 3:35 p.m. in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL. Butch was born on May 19, 1950 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Kenneth M. and Dolores (Williams) Terry. On May 18, 1976, he married Vickie Ross at Giant City Lodge, Makanda, IL and she survives. Butch's favorite pastime was watching sports, especially Panther basketball and NASCAR. He was also very proud to have continued his family's long tradition of coal mining. In 1992, he purchased and ran Panther City Hauling. Butch also loved coaching his daughters in softball and many of the Pinckneyville girls the love of the sport. In 2011, Butch and Vickie moved to Mt. Vernon, IL to be closer to their grandsons. Butch will be missed by his wife, Vickie Terry of Mt. Vernon, IL; daughters, Natalie (Alan) Wellen of Piopolis, IL and Stacey Terry of Hickory, KY; mother, Dolores Terry of Pinckneyville, IL; sister, Jeanie (Mike) Young of St. Louis, MO; two grandsons, Cole Wellen and Daniel Wellen of Piopolis,IL; along with nine nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father, Kenneth Terry, Sr. Funeral services will be held Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the March of Dimes in honor of his grandson, Daniel Wellen.
