Kenneth Ervin Grote's Obituary
Kenneth Grote, age 93, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away in Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation, Pinckneyville, IL, on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 8:12 a.m.
Kenneth was born on August 15, 1932, in Oakdale, IL, a son to Ervin and Ida (Doolin) Grote. On May 17, 1957, he married the love of his life, Nancy Jones in Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and she survives him. Kenneth honorably served his country in the United States Navy. For over 35 years, he worked as a Mechanical Engineer at McDonald Douglas Corporation which is now Boeing. Kenneth enjoyed collecting coins and traveling with his family to Florida every winter. Kenneth was a member of the Lincoln County Lodge #682, Winfield, MO. He cherished spending time with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Nancy Grote of Pinckneyville; one daughter, Kathy Evans of Herrin, IL; two grandchildren, Samuel Kenneth Staffey of Murphysboro, IL, and Branden Luke Staffey of Herrin, IL; two nephews, Dennis Hood and Douglas Hood both of Coulterville, IL; and one niece, Donna Woebling of Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sister, Mary Alice Hutchings, and Wanda Hood; and one nephew, Gary Hutchings.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL, on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Illinois. Military honors will be performed by the United States Navy and the American Legion Post # 2504, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
