Kathryn Jane Pyatt's Obituary
Kathryn Jane Pyatt, age 77 of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 4:05 a.m. in Fairview Nursing Center, DuQuoin, IL. Kathryn was born on January 13, 1933 at Pyatt's, south of Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Lucian and Lillian (Gass) Pyatt. Kathryn lost her hearing at approximately five months of age due to a mosquito bite which gave her St. Louis Encephalitis. Kathryn attended the Gallaudet School for the Deaf in St. Louis, Mo for elementary school and Jacksonville School for the Deaf in Jacksonville, IL for high school. She worked at the garment factory in Pinckneyville, IL for approximately ten tears. Kathryn worked for the Perry County Workshop for the Handicapped for thirty years from age 42 to 72. She was one of the original five clients when the workshop opened in December 1975. She loved working at the workshop and did not like to miss work. Kathryn was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. The ladies at First Baptist Church signed to Kathryn using sign language during church services. She enjoyed watching basketball on television, doing word searches, reading newspapers, and she loved animals, especially cats. Kathryn is survives by one sister, Wanda Lee McKinstry of Pinckneyville, IL; one brother, Roger Allen (Lucille) Pyatt of Cumming, GA; two nieces, Laurie Pyatt of Memphis, TN and Alice McKinstry (Dennis) Davis of Mount Dora, FL; and two nephews, Dan Pyatt of Cumming, GA and Glenn McKinstry of Pinckneyville, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; and several aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 10:15 a.m. with Brother Tim Bauersachs and Pastor Charles Walden officiating. Interment will be in Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, January 14, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at First Baptist Church, 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL or Galum Presbyterian Cemetery Association, Pinckneyville, IL.
