Katherine Opp's Obituary
Katie Opp, age 85, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 3:43 p.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Carbondale, IL. Katie was born on February 10, 1931 in DuQuoin, IL, a daughter to Albert "Pusher" and Norma (Tinsley) Lynch. On August 5, 1950, she married Jackie "Jack" Gene Opp in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, DuQuoin, IL and he preceded her in death on July 2, 2001. Katie was a member of Sunfield Baptist Church DuQuoin, IL and had worked at the DuQuoin Dress Factory, Ben Franklin and Phelps Dodge. Katie enjoyed traveling and loved to go fishing and camping with her husband and grandchildren. She loved her church and church family and was actively involved in church activities. Katie had an outgoing personality and loved visiting with friends and meeting new people. Survivors include two daughters, Karen Opp-Osborn of DuQuoin, formerly of CA and Judy Beckham of DuQuoin, IL; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Shawn) O'Keefe of DuQuoin, IL, Matt (Menal) Beckham of Desoto, IL and Jack Andrew (Lydnsey) of Pocahontas, IL; six great-grandchildren, Michelle Davis, Alexis O'Keefe, Jordan O'Keefe, Liam Beckham, Logan Beckham and Ella Beckham; and three great-great grandchildren, Jayden, Jaxson and Raiden Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Opp; three brothers and her dearly beloved dog, "Bruno". Funeral services will be held at Sunfield Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Joel Vancil officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin, IL. Friends may call at Sunfield Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Katherine Opp to assist her family with unforeseen medical and funeral expenses. Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
