June Hicks' Obituary
Margaret "June" Hicks, age 82, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at 8:32 p.m. in the ICU unit at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. June was born on June 20, 1923 in Elkville, IL, a daughter to James L. and Mae (Hoffman) Stone. She married Gale D. Hicks on May 6, 1943 in New Orleans, LA and he preceded her in death on September 9, 2002. She was a homemaker, an accomplished artist, a volunteer at Pinckneyville Hospital Skilled Care Unit, and was formerly involved with the Girl Scouts as a leader. She loved her backyard flowers and wildlife. Survivors include one daughter: Milinda Gail "Mindy" and Pete Guy Riggio, two brothers: Jim and Audrey Stone of Pinckneyville, and Jack and Dorett Stone of Pinckneyville, two sisters: Delores Pursell of Centralia, and Janet and Dallas Moore of South Roxanna, IL, one brother-in-law: Fred Steele of Lyndon, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister: Peggy Steele. Private family funeral services will be held on Monday, May 22, 2006. Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. and again on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Mary Kuykendall Carpenter Heart Fund or Perry County Humane Society.
