Judy Van Zandt's Obituary
Judy Van Zandt, age 89, of Dowell, IL and Elkville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital, DuQuoin, IL. Judy was born on December 4, 1922 in Olive Branch, IL, a daughter to Benjamin Franklin "Frank" and Myrtle (Miller) Moore. On January 19, 1941, she married Ardell Eaton in Jackson, MO and he was killed in action serving his country during WW II. She then married Raymond Lester Van Zandt on November 16, 1946 in Morganfield, KY and he preceded her in death on December 5, 1996. Judy was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Dowell, IL V.F.W. Post 513 Ladies Auxiliary, DuQuoin, IL and Women of the Moose, Murphysboro, IL. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Frank (Kay) Eaton of DuQuoin, IL and Van Ray (Angie) Van Zandt of Dowell, IL; two daughters-in-law, Lisa Van Zandt of Dowell, IL and Cathy Spiller of Elkville, IL; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; dear friend, Ron Kurowski of Dowell, IL; several dear nieces, nephews; and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two sons, Lester Van Zandt and Dudley Van Zandt; and one brother, Frankie Moore. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Gary Pate officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, Murphysboro, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to VNA Tip Hospice.
