Joseph Milton Gieser's Obituary
Joseph Milton "Joe" Gieser, age 78, of Pinckneyville, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Joe was born on March 22, 1929 in Pinckneyville, a son to Joseph Adam and Velma Faye (Jones) Gieser. He had worked as a coal miner and an operating engineer. In his lifetime, he was a member of the First Apostolic Church, Pinckneyville, UMWA Local 2160, Operating Engineers Local #12, Los Angeles, CA, and he volunteered as a vocalist at Pinckneyville Hospital Skilled Care Unit, Pinckneyville Healthcare, Sparta Senior Center, Steeleville Senior Center, Gold Plate and numerous other area locations. Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, and loved to help and be involved with people. Survivors include a very dear and loving friend: Elsie Logan of Pinckneyville, one son: Gary M. and wife Jan Gieser of Riverside, CA, two daughters: Jaci and husband Bob Stirnaman of Ellis Grove, IL and Kim Herschbach of Chester, IL, two sisters: Frances Feltmeyer of Pinckneyville and Mae Wright of Pinckneyville, four grandchildren: Aaron and wife Marthe Gieser of Newport Beach, CA, Scott and wife Summer Gieser of Riverside, CA, Zachary Fields of Chester, IL, and Wesley Fields of Chester, IL, two great-grandchildren: Katie Ashlyn Gieser of Newport Beach, CA, and Siena Nicole Gieser of Newport Beach, CA, three step-children: Sylvia and husband Sam Fulk, Gayle and husband Fred Hubler, and Olin and wife Colleen Lacy, several step-grandchildren including: Stephen Herschbach, and Kelli Herschbach, Elsie's children: Donna Wilder, and Dana Logan, Elsie's granddaughter: Shelley Wilder, and many nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces, along with numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Geraldine Loos, and a friend and mother of his children: Mary E. Gieser. Funeral services will be held in the First Apostolic Church, Pinckneyville on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Leonard Glover, Reverend Harry Jones and Reverend Gerald Wright officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the First Apostolic Church, Pinckneyville on Friday from 4:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Least Of My Brethren Food Pantry, Pinckneyville or the Grace Church Ministries Food Pantry, Chester.
