John A Zimmerman's Obituary
John A. Zimmerman, age 83, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 4:06 a.m. in Washington County Hospital Extended Care, Nashville, IL. John was born on May 10, 1925 in rural Lively Grove, IL, a son to Frank and Agatha (Khahn) Zimmerman. On November 25, 1957, he married Betty Lee Hammack in St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL and she preceded him in death on January 26, 1988. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War. John was dairy farmer who raised and managed Zimbe Registered Holstein Cattle, a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Sparta, IL, Knights of Columbus, Sparta, IL, St. Anthony's Mens Club, Coulterville VFW Post 6865, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include two sons: Gerald F. Zimmerman of Carbondale, IL and John "Eddie" (Tammy) Zimmerman of Coulterville, IL, three daughters: Bonita M. Zimmerman of Carbondale, IL, Ann M. (Jim) Willgoose of Nashville, IL and Rose (Tom H.) Thornton of Pinckneyville, IL, and five grandchildren: Bobby and Julie Zimmerman and Jeff, Brad and Blake Thornton. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister: Mary Shadrick and an infant brother: Frank Joseph Zimmerman. Funeral services will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Dennis Voss officiating. Interment will be in St.Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Monday, July 28, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. The rosary will be recited Monday at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL at 4:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery Association, Pinckneyville, IL or VFW Post 6865, Coulterville, IL.
