John H. Stumpe's Obituary
John H. "Jack" Stumpe, age 82, of Pinckneyville, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 6:10 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital Skilled Care Unit. Jack was born on September 30, 1924 in Pinckneyville, a son to John H. and Fay (Biby) Stumpe. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force attaining the rank of Staff Seargent and serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. On June 22, 1946, he married Betty Gene Hulsey in Pinckneyville and she survives. He was retired after 38 years with the Illinois Department of Agriculture as a scale tester, and had also farmed. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, the V.F.W. and Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504, Pinckneyville, served as President of Pinckneyville Community High School Board of Education for many years, and was an avid Panther Sports Fan. Survivors include his wife: Betty of Pinckneyville, one son: John Charles Stumpe of Centralia, IL at Warren G. Murray Developmental Center, one daughter: Jill (William Charles) Louv of Philadelpha, PA, and two grandsons: Aaron Tetley Louv of Princeton University, and Carter Benson Louv of the University of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a half-sister: Ernestine Harper. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville with Reverend Jim Barnett officiating. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Pinckneyville. Friends may call at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville on Friday, September 21, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Warren G. Murray Developmental Center, Centralia, IL.
