John C. Phillips' Obituary
John C. Phillips, age 50, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2008 at 5:22 p.m. John was born on December 17, 1957 in St. Louis, MO, a son to Charles L. and Pauline (Fontana) Phillips. He married Kelly L. Hemmer on April 27, 1985 in DuQuoin, IL and she survives. He worked as a coal miner for Old Ben #25 in West Frankfort for eight years and most recently for Nascote Industries for thirteen years. He was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville,IL and graduated from Pinckneyville Community High School in 1976. He was a former member of the UMWA, a member of American Thresherman, Pinckneyville Moose Lodge and a member and past president of Perry County Sportsman Club. John especially enjoyed spending time with his sons and his dogs. Survivors include his wife, his sons: Christopher Phillips of Pinckneyville, IL and Abram Phillips of Pinckneyville, IL, two brothers: Bill Phillips (special friend: Sue Setzekorn) of Pinckneyville, IL and David (Allison) Phillips of Pinckneyville, IL, sister: Barbara (Dennis) Wessel of Hoffman, IL, and a niece and nephew: Nicole Wessel (fiancé: Chris Wisby) of O'Fallon, IL and Andrew Wessel of Hoffman, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial funeral service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Brian Barker officiating. Interment will be in the St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to his sons, Christopher and Abram Phillips.
