John Matthew "Matt" Kennedy's Obituary
John Matthew "Matt" Kennedy, age 44, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at 9:06 a.m. in his home.
Matt was born on February 15, 1977 in St. Louis, MO, a son to Ted and Debbie (Hanley) Kennedy. On August 6, 2005, he married Erin Giacomo at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. Matt was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and obtained the rank of Eagle scout and enjoyed hunting, watching St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues, was a Girl Scout dad and spending numerous hours with family and pets. He had worked for Spartan Light Metals and just started working for the Illinois Dept of Corrections.
Survivors include his wife, Erin Kennedy of Pinckneyville, IL; daughter, Hannah Kennedy; one brother, Jason Kennedy; three half-brothers, Joshua, Jonathan and Kyle Bowley; step-mother, Kathy Bowley; father and mother-in-law, Monte and Debbie Giacomo; two sisters-in-law, Pam (Chris) Smith and Brittany (Jayd) Jokisch; two brothers-in-law, Brett (Casey) Giacomo and Lucas Giacomo; nieces and nephews, Jayden, Faith, Emma, Layla, Jacob, Rowan, Harper and other numerous family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his biological father, John Bowley; and one child in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be at Swanwick Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL.
Visitation will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Due to covid-19 virus, social distancing will be enforced and all attendees are asked to wear a mask.
Memorial donations may be to made to Hannah's education fund.
