John L. Martin's Obituary
John L. Martin, age 71, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 4:28 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL. John was born on December 11, 1939, a son to George F. and Carrie (Bruns) Martin. On October 29, 1960, he married Mary Jo Ann Mohr at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL and she preceded him in death on November 13, 2008. John was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL and was a coal miner. He began his mining career at the Streamline Mine, then worked at Captain Mine, Horse Creek Mine, and most recently at Knight Hawk Coal working his last day on May 13, 2011. John enjoyed gardening and dearly loved the time he spent with his family and friends. John is survived by two children, Allen (Sandy) Martin of Hoyleton, IL and Lisa (Mark) Trail of Denmark, IL; four grandchildren, Jacob and Jamilyn Martin of Hoyleton, IL, Becky Trail of St. Louis, MO, and Kacie (Mike) Davis of DuQuoin, IL; one future great-grandson on the way; four brothers, George (Maxine) Martin of Perryville, MO, Joe (Marilyn) Martin, Bernard (Jane) Martin and Steve Martin all of Pinckneyville, IL; five sisters, Juliann Loos of Belvidere, IL, Mary Faulkner of Pinckneyville, IL, Tammy Martin (fiancée, Mickey Oliver) of Coulterville, IL, and Mary (Doug) Skort of Centralia, IL and Cristina (Lee) Moore of Smyrna, TN; special friend, Relda Marlow; many dear nieces; nephews; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant son, Bruce Martin; one brother, Frank Martin; and three sisters, Carolyn Martin, Joann Sexton, and Cathy Presswood. Funeral mass will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday October 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Brian Barker officiating. Interment will be in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. The rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to St. Bruno School Endowment Fund or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network 1500 Rosecrans Ave. Suite 200 Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
