John C. Fuqua's Obituary
John C. Fuqua, age 88, of Oakdale, IL, passed away Monday, January 28, 2008, at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL John was born on July 16, 1919 in Hamilton County, IL, a son to Arthur and Effie (Woodrow) Fuqua. On November 15, 1947, he married Lois O'Rear in Oakdale, IL and she survives. John was a staff sergeant in the United States Army serving during World War II where he received numerous medals including the Purple Heart, Good Conduct, and the American Defense Service Ribbon. Survivors include his wife: Lois Fuqua of Oakdale, IL, a step-son: William R. (Carole) Lockhart of Washburn, IL, two brothers: Arson Eugene (Dolly) Fuqua, and Charles Ray (Earlean) Thompson all of Oakdale, IL, three sisters: Violet Clark of DuQuoin, IL, Betty Jean Brammeier of Oakdale, IL, and Mary Lou (Gene) Bube of Farmington, IL, ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a step-son: Wallace Lockhart, a brother: Hayward Fuqua, a sister: Imogene Rankin, and a brother in infancy. Funeral services will be held at the Pyatt Funeral Home (in the Village Hall), Oakdale, IL, Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Pilot Knob Cemetery, Oakdale, IL. Friends may call at the Pyatt Funeral Home (in the Village Hall), Oakdale, IL, Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and then on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be made to Luke Memorial Hospice, Pinckneyville, IL.
