John "Eddie" Carson's Obituary
John “Eddie” Carson, age 71, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 11:43 p.m., in Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon, IL.
Eddie was born on July 16, 1953 in Pinckneyville, IL a son to Howard L. and Charity “Jackie” (Fisher) Carson. On September 27, 1978 he married Rose “Rosie” Mathis in Carbondale, IL and she survives. He was a coal miner at Streamline, a diesel mechanic for Fabick, a musician, and an auto mechanic. Eddie attended Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. He belonged to the Pinckneyville Eagles, UMWA, and played guitar and sang in numerous bands. He loved animals, especially his dog, Cookie. Eddie had a heart of gold and was always helping others. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Eddie will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Rosie Carson of Pinckneyville, IL; four children, Jamey (Luci) Carson of Pinckneyville, IL, Zeno (Kendra) Carson of DuQuoin, IL, Andy Gewe of Paducah, KY and Lexi Carson of Pinckneyville, IL; one sister, Toni (Richard) Engelhardt of Pinckneyville, IL; eleven grandchildren, Jace Gewe, Jadyn Gewe, Jadah (Alec) Holmes, Ashlyn Carson, Chevy Carson, Cameryn Pickens, Cassidy Pickens, Chance Moss, Hunter Carson, Skylair Carson, and Atom Davis; three sisters-in law, Carolyn (Ron) Shaw, Joyce (Mike) Eisenhauer, and Trudy (Tony) Ruffino; and one brother-in-law, Fred (Ruth) Mathis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Benjamin Lee Carson, one brother, Gary Lee “Bean Can” Carson, and grandson, Cashton.
It was John’s wishes to be cremated.
A celebration of life visitation will be on Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at the Eagles Annex in Pinckneyville, IL.
Memorial donations may be made to Perry County Humane Society.
