John D. Carruthers' Obituary
John D. Carruthers, age 85, of Tamaroa, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 4:15 a.m. in Carbondale Memorial Hospital. John was born on August 31, 1922 in Ava, IL, a son to H.V. and Mary (Manor) Carruthers. On February 26, 1950, he married Helen E. Butcher in Kankakee, IL and she survives. He had retired as a farmer. Survivors include his wife of 57 ½ years: Helen of Tamaroa, one daughter: Mary (Robin) Hood of Marion, his grandson and little buddy: Johnathon Hood, two brothers: Harry (Helen) Carruthers of Boise, ID, and Steve (Iris) Carruthers of Momence, IL, and one sister: Mary Ruth Kenshalo of Overland Park, KS. He was preceded in death by a son: Larry Wayne Carruthers, three brothers: Earl Carruthers, Pete Carruthers, and Walt Carruthers, and a sister: Sue Cowsert. Graveside services will be held at Paradise Baptist Cemetery, Tamaroa on Monday, October 15, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. with Brother Geoff Flint officiating. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
