John Campbell's Obituary
John Campbell, age 68, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 2:45 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
John was born on December 28, 1952 in DuQuoin, IL, a son to Clement Dean and Dorris Mae (Reidelberger) Campbell. He was of the Presbyterian faith. In 1980, John married Londa Place in the Apostolic Church, Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. John was a teacher and coach at the Bethel Grade School from 1977 until 1978. He was a coal miner at the Arch Minerals Captain Mine from 1979 until 1993. John then worked for Sesser - Valier High School teaching Freshmen English, Anatomy, Physiology and was a counselor. From 1994 until 2018 John worked for Du Quoin Unit District 300 teaching fourth through eighth grade Health, Careers class and was a Counselor. Then in 2004, John became the Athletic Director, Physical Education teacher and taught third through fourth grade along with the High School until he retirement in 2018. He was a member of the Illinois Middle Schools State Consultant Association and Illinois Athletic Directors Association.
Survivors include his wife, Londa Campbell of Pinckneyville, IL; one son, Zach Campbell of Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Olivia (Alex) Eade of Okawville, IL; one grandchild, Xander Eade; two brothers, Jo (Becky) Campbell of Albers, IL and Jim (Lindell) Campbell of Pinckneyvillle, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister infancy, Jayne Campbell.
Funeral Services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL, on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Rob Mathis Officiating. Interment will be at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL, on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Due to Covid-19 virus attendance will be limited and social distracting will be enforced. All attendees are asked to wear a mask.
