John S. Calvetti's Obituary
John S. Calvetti, age 82, of Coulterville, IL passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 8:42 a.m., in his home in Coulterville, IL, surrounded by his family, friends and loving wife.
John was born on November 11, 1942, in DuQuoin, IL, a son to Sylvester and Mary (Stowers) Calvetti. On February 5, 1966, he married Trudy Kay Hood in Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. John honorably served his country in the United States Airforce. He later became a member of the Coulterville VFW’s Color Guard, honoring veterans at their funerals. He worked as a Printing Pressman for World Color in Sparta, IL, Salem, IL and Dyersburg, TN and then went on to work for IPC in St. Joseph, MI. John liked to spend his time following his two favorite teams, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Michigan Wolverines. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, golfing, mushroom hunting and frying fish. His passion was his family. John loved spending time working in his shop with his grandchildren. John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Trudy Calvetti of Coulterville, IL; two sons, John (Virginia) Calvetti of Olive Branch, MS, and Andrew (Germaine) Calvetti of Canton, MI; seven grandchildren, John (Tre)-(Sarah) Calvetti, Zacary Calvetti, Jerica Cruise, Joseph Cruise, Chance Cruise, Giuseppe Calvetti, and Stella Calvetti; and one great-granddaughter, Millie Jo Calvetti.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Jocelyn Rhea Calvetti; and two sisters, Joann Calvetti and Judith Jean Lunnemann.
A funeral service will be held at Coulterville United Methodist Church, Coulterville, IL, on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Christine Lippert officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Airforce and the Coulterville VFW Post # 6865.
Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL, on Friday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Coulterville United Methodist Church, Coulterville, IL or to the Coulterville VFW.
