John Ballheimer's Obituary
John Ballheimer, age 84, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019 at 5:40 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
John was born on June 28, 1935 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to John and Gertrude (Kurtz) Ballheimer. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. On September 3, 1971, he married Rosetta "Rosie" Stephens in Moline, IL and she preceded him in death on August 31, 2015. John had worked as an inspector at J.I. Case for 21 years and was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL. He enjoyed managing little league baseball in Silvas, IL, bowling, watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball and playing Bingo with his wife.
Survivors include his son, Wyman (DeDe) Woods of Mebane, NC; a daughter, Kathy Davis of Lakeland, FL; a grandson, Ben (Ashleigh) Woods of Wilmington, NC; a dear nephew, Bruce Haley (Gail White) of Pinckneyville, IL; and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosie Ballheimer; a son, Mark Ballheimer; a stepdaughter, Gay L. Freeman; a granddaughter, Jessica Ballheimer; a brother, Francis Ballheimer; and four sisters, Virginia Hawkins, Rose Mary Staples, Catherine Cole and Cecelia Finney.
Funeral mass will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Joseph Trapp officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL with military graveside rites by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
