Joan Margaret Winter's Obituary
Joan Margaret Winter, age 90, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 6:55 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital Emergency Room, Pinckneyville, IL. Joan was born on September 20, 1924 in Carbondale, IL, a daughter to Harry and Nina B. (Newsome) Feahrs. On July 18, 1948, she married Richard Winter in Carbondale, IL and he preceded her in death on November 12, 2014 after 66 years of marriage. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL. She was a homemaker, a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Moose Lodge, Murphysboro, IL and she loved quilting, embroidery, sewing, making doll clothes, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and teaching them how to cook. Survivors include her son, Russell (Barbara) Winter of Pinckneyville, IL; her daughter, Barbara W. (Michael) Starmer of Missoula, MT; seven grandchildren, Amanda Carter, Ryan Winter, Alexis Dyer, Jennifer Winter, Natasha Winter, Stephany Winter and Hayley Winter; two great-grandchildren, Kirsten Dyer and Andrew Lee Jett; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, David Winter. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Cindy Bean officiating. Interment will be in Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL.
